CHAPTER III
METHODOLOGY OF THE RESEARCH
Design of the Research
The design of this research is a quasi experimental design. It means the writer use two groups, those are experimental group and control group. The design of this research is displayed in the following paradigma.

Variables of the Research
There are two variable in this research. They are dependent variable and independent variable. Dependent variable is using sketch and independent variable is ability in writing
Papulation and Sample
Population
The population of this reseach is all of the second grade students SMP Negeri 3 Baubau in academic-year 2015/2016. The total numbers of the population as 130 students consisted of 30 students of VIII A, 28 students of VIII B, 27 students of VIII C, 25 students of VIII D, and 20 students of VIII E.
Sample
In taking the sample in this research a cluster random sampling is used. The sample is the class VIII D as experiment group and the class VIII E as control group, so the samples in this research are 40 students which consist of 20 students of VIII D class, and 20 students of VIII E class.
Instrument of the Research
The instrument uses in this research is test. For the test the total number of it is approximately 5-10 items writing sentence. The test consists of pre-test and post-test. Pre-test is administered to find out the students’ prior writing performance; while, posttest is administered to find out the students’ post writing performance after applying sketch technique.
Technique of Data Collection
The techniques that will be use in the data of in this research, the research use the following procedure:
Pre-test
The pre-test is give before treatment. Pretest is aimed to find out the students’ prior ability in writing before treatment. It is intend to see the students score prior ability in writing before giving treatment for experimental class.
Post-test
After doing the treatment, the writter give posttest to the experimental and control group. The aim of posttest is to investigate the student ability in writing.
Technique of Data Analysis
The techniques that will be applied in analyzing the data about the students’ writing performance are descriptive statistic analysis and inferential statistic it is intended to know whether or not there is any significant difference on students’ writing performance between group of students who are taught with sketch and group of students who are taught without sketch.
Pre-Requisite Analysis
Before testing the hypothesis that is to compare the difference of students’ writing performance using Anova, there is a pre-requisite test to know the legality of the sample, namely the normality and homogeneity test will be used. This test is conducted to determine whether the data are normal and homogenous or not. It also meant to check if the research result met the requirement of good research ot not.
Hyphothesis Testing
To find out whether there is any significant difference or writing performance between group of students who are taught with sketch technique and group of students who are taught without sketch, the research uses Anova from the SPSS Program version 17.

METODOLOGI PENELITIAN
Desain Penelitian
Desain penelitian ini adalah desain eksperimen kuasi. Ini berarti penggunaan penulis dua kelompok, yaitu kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Desain penelitian ini ditampilkan dalam paradigma berikut.

Sampel Dalam mengambil sampel dalam penelitian ini cluster random sampling yang digunakan. Sampel adalah kelas VIII D sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan kelas VIII E sebagai kelompok kontrol, sehingga sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 40 siswa yang terdiri dari 20 siswa kelas VIII D, dan 20 siswa dari kelas VIII E. Instrumen Penelitian Instrumen menggunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tes. Untuk tes jumlah itu sekitar 5-10 item menulis kalimat. Tes terdiri dari pre-test dan post-test. Pre-test diberikan untuk mengetahui kinerja menulis siswa sebelum; sementara, posttest diberikan untuk mengetahui kinerja posting tulisan siswa setelah menerapkan teknik sketsa. Teknik Pengumpulan Data Teknik yang akan digunakan dalam data dalam penelitian ini, penelitian menggunakan prosedur berikut: Pre-test pra The uji memberikan sebelum pengobatan. Pretest bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan sebelum siswa dalam menulis sebelum pengobatan. Hal ini bermaksud untuk melihat siswa skor kemampuan sebelum secara tertulis sebelum memberikan pengobatan untuk kelas eksperimen. Post-test Setelah melakukan perawatan, writter memberi posttest untuk kelompok eksperimen dan kontrol. Tujuan dari posttest adalah untuk mengetahui kemampuan siswa dalam menulis. Teknik Analisis Data Teknik yang akan diterapkan dalam menganalisis data tentang kinerja menulis siswa adalah analisis statistik deskriptif dan statistik inferensial dimaksudkan untuk mengetahui apakah ada atau tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan pada siswa kinerja tertulis antara kelompok siswa yang diajar dengan sketsa dan kelompok siswa yang diajar tanpa sketsa. Analisis Pra-Requisite Sebelum menguji hipotesis yang membandingkan perbedaan siswa kinerja menulis menggunakan Anova, ada adalah tes pra-syarat untuk mengetahui legalitas sampel, yaitu normalitas dan homogenitas tes akan digunakan. Tes ini dilakukan untuk menentukan apakah data yang normal dan homogen atau tidak. Hal ini juga dimaksudkan untuk memeriksa apakah hasil penelitian memenuhi persyaratan penelitian yang baik ot tidak. Hyphothesis Pengujian Untuk mengetahui apakah ada perbedaan yang signifikan atau menulis kinerja antara kelompok siswa yang diajar dengan teknik sketsa dan kelompok siswa yang diajar tanpa sketsa, penelitian menggunakan Anova dari versi Program SPSS 17.
