Inthe Pacific waters near the Kurils, the sleeper sharkoccurred from 48° to 52° N (Fig. 2b), and the catcheswere usually represented by one (rarely two) specimen.The single capture of six individuals at once was notedwithin 48°38'-48°42/ N, 154°52'-154°57' E at thedepth of 211-305 m.By Compagno's data (1984), in the northern sectionsof the area, the sleeper shark inhabits shallowerdepths, where it can occur up to the very surface, whilein southern areas it inhabits deeper waters. The bathymetriccharacteristics of distribution of the species inquestion in the Pacific waters near the Kurils and BeringSea do not fall within the aforementioned scheme.
