Patient positioning and instruction
The patient should be positioned prone or supine dependent on the skin entry site chosen. Biopsy specimens should not be taken with the patient in a seated position because of the potential small risk of air embolus or fainting during the procedure. It is difficult for patients to maintain a consistent decubitus position and this should be avoided if possible. The breathing technique required during the procedure should be
explained to the patient and practised beforehand. Deep breaths and coughing should be avoided during the biopsy procedure.

Pasien harus diposisikan rawan atau terlentang tergantung pada situs entri kulit yang dipilih. Spesimen biopsi tidak harus diambil dengan pasien dalam posisi duduk karena risiko kecil potensi embolus udara atau pingsan selama prosedur. Sulit bagi pasien untuk mempertahankan posisi decubitus konsisten dan ini harus dihindari jika mungkin. Teknik pernapasan yang diperlukan selama prosedur harus
dijelaskan kepada pasien dan dipraktekkan sebelumnya. Dalam napas dan batuk harus dihindari selama prosedur biopsi.
