The purpose of this case study was to understand the human resource management strategies utilized by nonprofit organizations for managing volunteer resources. This study explored how human resource management strategies affect volunteer job satisfaction, high performance, and retention by conducting telephone interviews with a cross-section of the nonprofit organization‘s volunteers. It also explored the impact volunteers have on the overall organizational performance or the organization‘s ability to deliver its program to its target market. The findings were used to determine those human resource management strategies that contribute to an increase of volunteer job satisfaction, high performance, and retention, as well as have an impact on organizational performance.
