The reviewed theories related to Translation Theories, Slang Traslation, and Subtitling Theories. A. Translation Theories1. Definition of TranslationAccording to Brislin, translation is a general term referring to the transfer of thoughts and ideas from one language to another, whether the language is in written or oral form, whether the language have established orthographies or not; or whether one or both language is based on signs, as with signs of the deaf (Basuni Muhammad, 2010:1). Translation is the communication of the meaning of a source-language text by means of an equivalent target-language text (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Translation).Translation is the rendering of a source language (SL) text into the target language (TL) so as to ensure that (1) the surface meaning of the two will be approximately similar and (2) the structure of the SL will be preserved as closely as possible but not so closely that the TL structures will be seriously distorted (Mc. Guire, 1980:2).
