In addition, we didn’t realize how

In addition, we didn’t realize how big an undertaking it would
be to recategorize old content into new sections, as well as to
implement redirects so we wouldn’t lose any link juice during the
transition. One of our developers wrote an original code for us
to streamline those practices, saving us time during the setup
and relaunch phase. Without that help, we would probably still
be categorizing older content today. This brings me to my second
lesson.
2. Ignore Outdated Content Categories
When Building Your New Strategy
You cannot just take the content from one website and file it
under pre-existing categories on the second website. Rarely
will you find such a consistent match. Instead, look at all the
content you have across both sites and begin to think of how to
restructure the flow to not only include new topics, but to satisfy
new readers as well.
Our old news site broke content down into four categories:
content marketing, social media, SEO, and business. We knew we
could carry those news categories over into the relocated news
section on the new site, but the overall editorial strategy had
a different focus. This meant some of the content we had been
producing no longer made sense on the website.
While we didn’t delete or remove the legacy content from the Web,
we did look past it when building out the new editorial flow on the
website. We cover the same broad categories in news, but we’re
slowly phasing out the “business” category. We found it diluted our
authority by forcing us to cover topics that didn’t align with our core
mission of improving the content creation process for our clients.
Instead, we moved resources to focus on producing more news
content around trends related to the broader digital marketing
ecosystem—such as display advertising—and showing our readers
how these trends affect content marketing at a higher level.

pelajaran.
2. Abaikan Usang Konten Kategori
Ketika Membangun Strategi Baru Anda
perlahan pentahapan keluar "bisnis" kategori.
