Time management expert, Dru Scott made the following comment in connection with the 80/20 rule: “Identify the vital ingredients necessary to achieve your objective. Do these things first. You will get the most results in the least amount of time.”

We notice two key points in that statement:

Identify
Do
Right now we are going to focus on identify. As an example consider a to-do list of 10 items. According to the 80/20 rule about two of those items are going to reap about 80% of our results. It is good to analyze our list to see if we could pinpoint those few tasks that are going to contribute to the biggest bulk of our results.

For example maybe we are trying to establish ourselves as an online content writer. Because we do not want to put our eggs in one basket we may try out a number of different sites and avenues. Even though we may join a number of content sites and may also have our own blog or website, the likelihood is that most of our traffic and earnings are going to come from one or two sources. So it is good to identify those sources. Also on these sites we will also want to identify which articles generate the biggest bulk of our traffic. Are there any common ingredients which could be found within those articles?

So we just discussed identify, now let us discuss the do. We want to do, or focus on those activities that will generate the biggest bulk of our results.
