A song about a man who is all hyped

A song about a man who is all hyped up, yet can't see why he should be and is struggling to live up to these great expectations that everyone has. He has a talent but he doesn't want it 'I can't stand to fly....' because he thinks he can't. He has to do his job but he want time to find out who he really is first.

Yes I like the song a lot.

Obviously superman is the analogy.

I think he feels like he needs to be the hero for someone in his life, or they expect him to be. He maybe doesnt think he deserves them to feel that way or that he can even do it.

I cant stand to fly, im not that naive, Im just out to find, the better part of me ---- he doesnt feel that he wants to a hero, not for himself, hes happy being him but he wants to be the best of him he can be, while realizing, humbly, that he is still a man. He wishes that was enough for everyone else.

the kryptonite references, is almost saying that he will only be as good as he expects himself to be or that he might even be self sabotaging
