Jodha got up to a bright and chirpy morning. A week had already passed since the bus-stop incident and things had gotten back to normal; Mirza hadn't tried contacting Shivani after that. Jodha assumed that her tight slap had taught him a good lesson. Shivani had also looked better and was smiling. Jodha was glad that she could bring back the smile on her face; nothing mattered to her more than her family's happiness. She could be up in arms against the world just for their sake! She lived in a joint family; her chacha and his family also lived along with them. She only had one sister and three cousin brothers. They all were fiercely protective of each other. So when her brothers came to know that a boy had been troubling their sister, they wanted to accost him and beat him up. However, Jodha, who was the second eldest only after Bhagwant, told them to calm down and not do something stupid in haste as it could lead to bigger problems. She told them that she would handle things herself so that things could be resolved amicably. She really had no intentions of slapping the guy. However, his persistence made her so angry that couldn't stop herself from raising her hand on him. Suddenly, the buzzing of her mobile phone broke her chain of thoughts. She picked it up to check the message. After reading it, a wide smile was plastered across her face as it was from her boyfriend Surya. They had been seeing each other for nearly two years now and had been friends for even longer than that. They would spend a lot of time together and eventually one day Surya asked her if she could be his girlfriend. Jodha replied with a yes and they began dating ever since. They were very serious about each other and both their families hoped that they would get married someday. Jodha too had dreams in that respect and could not wait for the day when she would finally be with Surya forever. Suddenly, Jodha's thoughts were disturbed by her brother, Raj's voice.
Raj - Oh ho! Dekho kitne dreams dikh rahe hai Surya ke! Come on Di, get up! Don't you want to go to college?
Jodha (blushing) - Raj, tum bhi na! I was thinking of...oh just forget it! Just tell Ma that I am going for a bath now and to keep my breakfast ready
Raj - Okay, I will tell her
Jodha then proceeded to the bathroom to bathe. After finishing, she got dressed. She wore her blue jeans and a black top and left her hair open, as Surya once told her that she looked the most beautiful in open hair. She wore kajal in her eyes and wore little coloured lip-balm on her lips. She then went to the breakfast table, and began eating the sandwich which had been prepared by her mother, Mainavati.
Mainavati - Jodha beta, please eat properly! You have lost a lot of weight recently!
Jodha (annoyed) - Ma, don't worry so much! I eat properly!
Bharmal - Arre Mainavati! Why are you troubling her? Usse shanti se khaane do!
Mainavati - Achcha baba, I only trouble everyone here! Just look at her! She has become as thin as a stick! God only knows which pageant she wants to compete in!
Jodha - Ma seriously, I am fine! And you need to stop worrying!
Padma - Arre Mainavati, just let her eat! She is getting late!
Jodha - Thank you, Padma chachi!
Jodha then quickly ate her breakfast and said good bye to everyone. She dashed down the stairs of her house and walked towards the tiny entrance gate. Her chacha was busy tending to the garden. She greeted him with a lively Good morning' and left. She was going to the bus stop where Surya would be waiting for her and couldn't help but smile at the prospect of meeting him. She usually went to college with him but due to Mirza's antics she had to go with Shivani for nearly three weeks. Although, she would keep meeting him, it was the first day after a long time that she would be going to college with him. When Jodha told Surya about the problem, he completely understood her and even agreed to teach Mirza a lesson himself. However, Jodha refused saying she needed to solve this herself. In all, he was the best boyfriend in the world and Jodha was very lucky to have him.
"She should be coming anytime, Bhaijaan" Mirza told Jalal. They both were waiting in their car on the opposite side of the bus stop, from where Jodha was supposed take her bus to college. After the events of last week, Jalal wanted to confront the errant girl who had insulted his brother; so he decided to reprimand her for it.
*FLASHBACK*
Mirza was in terrible pain due to the bruise Jodha had left on his cheek. The ice-pack he had kept there did provide some relief however it was still very sore. Jalal could not bear to see his brother in pain like that. He was very angry at that unknown girl who had dared to insult and hit his brother like that.
Jalal (to himself) - How dare she do that to Mirza! Does she know who we are? We are the Mughals! No one has the guts to mess with us! She has done the gustaakhi of insulting one! She will have to be taught a lesson! (to Mirza) - How are you feeling now?
Mirza - Aahhh! Bhaijaan, it still hurts!
Jalal - That girl! Don't worry Mirza! Your Bhaijaan will handle everything! But you must do one work for me
Mirza - Surely, Bhaijaan! I will do it! Just tell me kya karna hai!
Jalal - Just follow her everywhere; what time she leaves home and comes back, places where she hangs out; everything! I give you a three days' time. Can you do this for me?
Mirza - Yes Bhaijaan! I swear on our ancestors that you will have her full schedule on your table within three days!
Jalal (tapping his head and laughing) - Okay ab zyada drama mat kar!
Mirza - Yeh kya baat hui? I am not a kid anymore!
Jalal - You will always remain a kid for me!
Mirza then got up and gave his brother a warm hug. Jalal however could not stop thinking of the insult his brother had faced. The girl's name had gotten stuck into his head.
Jalal (to himself) - Jodha!
*END OF FLASHBACK*
Mirza prodded his brother again. Jalal turned to face him. He was thinking about the conversation which had brought them there.
Mirza - What happened, Bhaijaan?
Jalal - Umm...nothing. Did she arrive yet?
Mirza - No, not yet
Jalal smiled and got engrossed in his thoughts again. After his instructions, Mirza had quickly gotten to work. He had followed Jodha wherever she went, for the next three days. He had found out about her daily schedule; where she went, with whom she went and what time she returned home. However, he had done so with utmost care and caution. He didn't want to risk getting caught and getting another slap from her. He had already got one and was very vengeful about it. That was another reason why he had agreed to help Jalal with his plan as no girl had ever dared to raise her hand on him. Suddenly, his eyes moved towards the dainty figure approaching the bus stop. Mirza quickly drew the windows down.
Mirza - Bhaijaan! See! There she is!
Jalal quickly turned around to look out of the window. As soon as his eyes landed on her, he was spellbound. He had been rendered breathless. Though she was quite a distance away from them, he could see her with full prominence. Jodha's innocent smile, her slender but womanly form had left him speechless. She was the Creator's gift to the earth. Even though she was dressed simply, she looked like an angel. Jalal could not take his eyes off her. She had hypnotised him without even doing much. He had already made up his mind that she was his and his only. He had actually forgotten the purpose of coming there in the first place and had just frozen in his seat. Suddenly, he saw a wide smile appear on her face. Jalal smirked and decided to get off to meet her when he saw another guy approaching towards her. He ran to Jodha and gave her a tight hug. Jalal couldn't believe this. His blood boiled at the sight. He just wanted to get out of the car at that instant and beat the guy up!
Jalal (to himself) - How dare he! How dare he touch her! She is mine! He has no right to even look at her! I swear on myself that I will pull his eyes out! No one lays their eyes on what Jalaluddin Mohammed has chosen for himself!
Jalal was about to open the door when Mirza stopped him.
Mirza - What are you doing, Bhaijaan? We have lost the chance now! I kept prodding you and calling out to you but you just didn't listen! He is her boyfriend, Suryabhan! I am anyways on his hit list! He won't be pleased to see us! It's better if we go now! I need to get to college!
Jalal was even angrier now. He didn't care whether she had a boyfriend or no. He just wanted her. She was strangely beautiful. Her beauty was like dew in the morning sunshine and Jalal kept getting attracted to her like a bee to a flower. He wanted to grab her from that bus stop and take her with him. But he could only dream of doing that. Ultimately, having no choice, he instructed the driver to pull out of there and head towards Mirza's college. As his car left, Jodha got into the bus with Suryabhan. A notion suddenly struck Jalal.
Jalal - Mirza, won't she be going to college now?
Mirza - Of course, she always goes to college now. But why did you ask?
