The ALL4 drivetrain has been refined for the latest offering, optimized for maximum efficiency and sporty handling. An electrohydraulically-actuated hang-on clutch is controlled by the dynamic stability control (DSC) computer, enabling the Clubman to operate most of the time in front-wheel drive. When additional traction is needed, the clutch engages and manages torque distribution between the front and rear.

Two TwinPower Turbo engines will be available, including a 134-horsepower unit in the standard Clubman ALL4 and a 189-pony powerplant in the sportier S Clubman ALL4 packages. Power is delivered via a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox.

Both variants utilize selective braking to replicate a differential lock on the front axle, preventing the inside wheel from spinning when accelerating out of bends. The John Cooper Works package adds a performance control function, preemptively braking both inside wheels around bends to minimize understeer.

Drivers can expect to reach 60 mph from a stop in just 6.7 seconds with the S Clubman ALL4 and a manual transmission, or 6.6 seconds with the automatic -- an improvement of 0.3 seconds compared to the FWD variant.

The Clubman ALL4 is scheduled to arrive at MINI showrooms across the US by April. Rumors suggest the company is also working on a hybrid all-wheel-drive system, using an electric motor to drive the rear axle, however there is still no official word on the next-generation drivetrain technology.
