Option 1.Disregarding the age and t

Option 1.
Disregarding the age and the quality of my profile, the following “brute force” technique should work for anyone in a dire need for freelancer work, due to the sheer amount of tries.
As a Freelancer on UpWork, you have a monthly budget of 60 "connects". With these “connects” you are able to apply to around 30 jobs.
If the cash influx is urgent, you will want to look for fixed price projects.
These projects allow you to charge milestone payments, like a 30%-50% advance payment, which will make you have cash in six days in your pocket.
If these 60 connects don't suffice to get a contract, you can buy "premium" membership for 10 USD, and buy additional connects until you get a job.
If this fails, but it rarely does, you still have option 2:
It is a not really a strategy, but rather something people tend to forget about as they move on:
You can always contact some of your former clients, right?
Either offer them a project or ask if there is anything you can do for them. As someone who already worked for them, you are probably aware of something which could be done for them at any given time.
Don't hesitate to propose a project on your own if you feel that the client will benefit of it as well.
Examples: “I could finally do the link detox for you”, “What do you say if I fix the thing on your website we talked about?” or “Did you find someone for the other project we discussed?”
If you can't think of anything relevant, just explain your situation, let them know that you are available, and if you were building a relationship with these clients before, the chances are high that they will find something for you.
In order to have a simpler overview of my current and past clients, I usually communicate with them on a separate Skype account, made only for clients.
I use “Multi Skype Launcher” to have my “normal” Skype and the one for clients open at all times.
This allows me to see when my former clients come online and have a direct conversation with them, which is way more personal than sending out an email. (And you don't have the nerve-wracking waiting for an answer problem)
Option 2.5 is rather a boost to your odds to get a job fast, rather than a way to find new clients.
Give your friends a nudge, that you are looking for work, you will be astonished what a little networking can do for you.
Option 3 leads us in the world of job ads.
Inbound.org, LinkedIn & marketinghire.com are full of prospects.
Get your CV and portfolio up to date, and create a couple probably a bunch of potential employers for the future.
Write a blog post about your situation, sneak in some of your success stories, show off your skills and make your availability known to the community.
You never know who might be reading. ( Imagine a wink here ;) )
Creating ripples
If you followed up on everything I just wrote, you will have created enough ripples around you to make people want to learn more about you.
You will have people checking your LinkedIn profile, probably even getting a few emails coming in, invitations for interviews.
Your friends will be telling their friends about you, and these small ripples you created will form to a wave of opportunities.
Pick the best, or pick a few and go for it…
As you know, freelancing is usually a triathlon:
Preventing the worst case scenario
I recently published a blog post on Ahrefs with tips and advice for freelancers, it contained, among other things, my own strategy on “How to always have work as a freelancer”
Freelancing is, or rather should be, seen as a triathlon:
Finding clients, delivering results, nurturing relationships. Rinse & repeat
But even with the best planning, things don't always work out as expected.
When your safety net is about to break, and you feel like losing the grip, the “triathlon” must become a sprint in client acquisition.
Once you are content with the workload again, you can shift to the well-known triathlon.
Until then: Run Forrest! Run!

If you can't think of anything relevant, just explain your situation, let them know that you are available, and if you were building a relationship with these clients before, the chances are high that they will find something for you.In order to have a simpler overview of my current and past clients, I usually communicate with them on a separate Skype account, made only for clients.I use “Multi Skype Launcher” to have my “normal” Skype and the one for clients open at all times. This allows me to see when my former clients come online and have a direct conversation with them, which is way more personal than sending out an email.
