Mainavati (smiling) - Don't take tension, beta. If you ever feel down, I am always there for you
Jodha then broke the hug. Both of them smiled at each other. Mainavati then went into the kitchen while Jodha sat down and continued to eat her breakfast.
Jalal was at the breakfast table with Ammijaan. He was still not able to forget about the girl in red. That night, he slept thinking that he would forget about her. However, the entire Sunday had gone by thinking of her. He found her intriguing primarily due to her resemblance with Jodha. He had spent his entire Sunday trying to figure out whether the girl was Jodha or someone else altogether. His mind was still boggled by all this. Ammijaan saw him thinking about something intently.
Ammijaan - Jalal beta, is something wrong?
Ammijaan's voice broke into Jalal's thoughts. He snapped back to reality.
Jalal (hesitatingly) - No, nothing Ammijaan. Just thinking about office
Ammijaan smiled and looked away. She knew Jalal too well.
Ammijaan (smilingly to herself) - Jalal, I know that you are thinking about Jodha. You do all the time. She is very special to you, that is certain. But then you are still very confused. Your pair with Jodha is divine, as if it has been sent by the heavens itself!
Jalal finished his breakfast and got up from the table.
Jalal - Ammijaan, I am leaving now. I have to reach office for a meeting
Ammijaan - Haan, beta. I will see you in the evening
Jalal then left for office in his chauffeur driven car. He had an unexplainable excitement to see Jodha today and couldn't wait to reach office.
Jodha reached office that morning. She had remembered last night to put the file in her laptop bag. She entered the reception area and greeted Ruqaiyya.
Jodha - Good morning, Ruqs
Ruqaiyya - Good morning, Jo. You got the file na?
Jodha - Yeah, it is safely tucked away in my laptop bag
Ruqaiyya - Okay, awesome! I'll see you at lunch break!
Jodha headed to Jalal's cabin. She was feeling different today. It was the first time in so many days that she was feeling so relaxed and had a slight smile on her face as well. She knocked on the door and entered the cabin. Jalal was sitting at his table. His heart began beating fast on seeing her. Earlier when he saw her, he would get excited primarily because he used to lust for her. But now, within the course of three months, everything had changed. One look of her would make his day. He was happy to see her relaxed after such a long time. She looked as fresh as a flower; her face had an unusual glow, like the one you get after hearing remarkably good news. She looked really beautiful in her outfit today. Jalal couldn't stop smiling looking at her.
Jalal (to himself) - Wow! She looks perfect! She is my angel!
Jodha - Good morning, Mr President
Jalal, who was distracted in his thoughts, came to back to his senses on hearing her voice.
Jalal - Good morning, Jodha. Here, take a seat
Jodha pulled out a chair and sat on it. She opened her laptop bag to take out a file. Jalal kept looking at her as she kept searching her bag. As she did so, her long hair flew slightly due to the cool breeze from the air conditioner.
Jalal (to himself) - She looks so beautiful! Any amount of praise is not enough for her ethereal beauty! She is my husn ki pari!
Jodha double checked the file, making sure that it was not the accounts file. She then handed over the file to Jalal.
Jodha - Here is the file of the deal with the American company, which you asked me to bring, Mr President
Jalal - Thank you, Jodha. By the way, you look really pretty today
Jodha blushed at the sudden complement. She broke eye contact with him and looked down shyly, smiling slightly. Jalal realized that she was feeling and decided to apologise.
Jalal - I am sorry, Jodha. I shouldn't have said it so suddenly. I didn't know that you would feel so shy
Jodha felt embarrassed that Jalal had caught her blushing. She looked up
Jodha - It's okay, Mr President. It is not your fault. Thank you for the compliment
Jalal (smiling) - You're welcome, Jodha. Does that mean that I can give you a compliment without feeling guilty?
Jodha (blushing again) - Umm...Yes of course, Mr President
Jalal just kept smiling looking at her. Jodha, on the other hand, just couldn't stop blushing. Jalal asked her some more questions regarding work and all the while, Jodha couldn't make eye contact with Jalal. Jalal noticed this and found it very cute. Jodha finally decided that she needed to go to her desk.
Jodha - Um...Mr President, I think I should go to my desk, now. There is a lot of work pending, which I need to complete today
Jalal - Okay, Jodha. I'll see you around
Jodha then proceeded to leave the cabin. Jalal kept looking at her petite but womanly figure slowly disappearing. He had totally forgotten about the girl in red after seeing Jodha. She had begun ruling his mind again. He also felt relieved that she was in a good mood and was smiling as well.
Jalal (smiling widely) - She looks really cute when she blushes! I should compliment her more often! I will get to see this cuteness then! She looked so beautiful even today. And her tresses! Mashallah! They keep flying everywhere and increase her beauty even more! She is my angel!
As Jodha was walking towards her desk, she kept thinking about the compliment Jalal had given her. She was still feeling shy and couldn't bring herself to stop blushing. She had received compliments earlier as well but she always took them with a pinch of salt. But Jalal's compliment had different effect on her. It was as if she had got the best gift on this drab day. She felt like the most beautiful woman in the world, even though he had just called her pretty. She couldn't stop smiling and feeling shy at the same time. It felt just like the other day, when Jalal in his inebriated state had called her beautiful. She had blushed really hard then as well. Suddenly, she realized what she was thinking and was highly embarrassed.
Jodha - Hey Kanha, yeh main kya soch rahi hoon? (What am I thinking?) Why is Mr President's compliment affecting me so much? And what was with that blushing and feeling shy? I was behaving like a teenager! And what's worse, he noticed it! So embarrassing! He must be thinking that I am a fool! Ugghh...I need to get it out of my head! He must be saying the same things to tons of women. Yet, why am I feeling at the top of the world? His one compliment shouldn't make a difference to me. Jodha, you have received tons of compliments earlier. Why is one compliment of his making you feel so different? He was just trying to be nice, Jodha! Don't misconstrue things and conclude that he finds you the most beautiful!
Jodha then began her work for the day. It was a little difficult for her to concentrate as her mind was occupied with the big reveal that was going to occur shortly. Time passed by and it was lunch-break. Salima came to Jodha's desk along with Ruqaiyya. Jodha had just finished typing out a really long report.
Salima - Jodha, you have the file with you, right?
Jodha - Yeah Salima
Ruqaiyya - Then what are we waiting for? Let's go to Sir's cabin
Jodha - Yeah, okay
Jodha pulled out the file from her bag and began walking towards Jalal's cabin. Jodha clutched the file tightly to her chest as they walked. They reached the cabin and knocked on the door. Jalal signalled them to enter. The three of them entered one by one and stood next to each other. Jalal was surprised to see the three of them together.
Jalal (to himself) - Why are the three of them here together? Don't tell me they are planning to resign! I don't want Jodha to go! And what is that in her hand? (to the three of them) - Good afternoon. What brings the three of you here, today?
Salima stepped ahead to speak to him.
Salima - Sir, we have something to show you. Jodha
Jodha stepped ahead and handed the file over to Jalal. Jalal had a puzzled expression on his face as he took the file in his hand. He was trying to figure out what was going on.
Jalal - What is in this file?
Jodha - Mr President, please open it
Jalal opened the file. He saw the accounts of the previous year and the year before that as well. After scrutinizing the accounts for some time, he realized something was wrong. He immediately pulled out the account papers from the drawer in his table. He went through the papers, double-checking each entry, and found that the entries for the same time period did not match in both the papers! The account papers which he had, showed a lesser amount than the ones in the file! He was shocked beyond belief!
Jalal - I don't believe this! Both the papers are the same yet the entries don't match! I need to call Mr Ataga Khan and Mr Bharmal Singh rightaway!
Jalal told the peon to call the both of them to his cabin right away. He couldn't believe this was happening.
Jalal - Where did you find this?
Jodha - Sir...umm...
Suddenly, the cabin door opened and Bharmal stepped into the office along with Ataga. Bharmal was shocked to see Jodha there. They both greeted Jalal.
