3.2. Method comparison with spiked apple samples
As shown in Fig. 1, consistent pH stability was achieved when
using 5% (v/v) of acid in MeCN with 7.5 g of the ammonium salt,
particularly for the acetate buffer. Recovery experiments were conducted for spiked samples at those conditions, with the aim to
compare the performance of both buffered versions. Furthermore,
the results were compared with the unbuffered NH4Cl version,
also using 7.5 g of salt and 15 mL of MeCN, and with AOAC Official Method 2007.01. Duplicate spikes were made each at 10 and
75 ng/g in apple. As listed in Section 2.5, the d-SPE step was used
for cleanup after the initial extraction, and for LPGC-MS/MS, analyte protectants were utilized to provide benefits in the analysis as
described previously
