Dr. Chang is one of our Resident Co

Dr. Chang is one of our Resident Consultant Cardiologists. He graduated with a M.D. (USM) from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 1997 and subsequently passed his MRCP (Edinburgh) in 2000. He served as a General Physician in Ipoh Hospital and Hospital Seri Manjung (2000-2001) prior to joining Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) for his cardiology training that lasted almost four years. He has extensive training in interventional cardiology, heart failure/transplant assessment, echo/TEE and pacemaker.

His special interests include:

1. Interventional cardiology (transradial coronary stenting). Transradial-based procedures have made intervention less invasive with early patient ambulation, fewer access site complications and early discharge (daycare procedures) Echocardiography (especially tissue doppler imaging, TDI)

2. Cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT) has been advocated as an option in symptomatic heart failure patients with electrical dysynchrony in spite of optimum medications. Quantitative TDI (TDI-Q) has been shown to guide patient selection for CRT and to predict response rate (reverse remodeling) with reasonable sensitivity and specificity. Dr. Chang was attached briefly to Prof. Dr. C.M. Yu in Prince of Wales Hospital, Hong Kong, for further training in TDI in 2005.

3. Cardiac Imaging (coronary 64 slice CT imaging/cardiac MRI). Further, he had training stints in noninvasive coronary angiogram (64 MDCT) in the:
- Heart Centre , St. Theresa's Hospital, Hong Kong (Dr. C. M. Wong),
- Department of Radiology, Anzhen Hospital, Beijing (Dr. Zhang Z) and
- Department of Radiology, Leiden University Medical Centre, Leiden (Prof. Dr. Albert Roos).
Prior to joining Penang Adventist Hospital, he was working as Consultant Cardiologist in the e-Heart and Health Scan Centre in Penang with great interest in non-invasive coronary imaging. He has personally performed ~250 cases with a wide array of interesting cases (post CABG/stents/anomalous coronary arteries etc.)

4. He also has keen interest in myocardial stem cell therapy (specifically mesenchymal stem cells) which is a useful option/therapeutic adjunct in end-stage heart failure with no options for revascularization.

Dr. Chang also has keen interest in voluntary work, CME and postgraduate teaching. He was one of the local MOCK examiners in the state level (Perak) organised PACES MRCP exams held in Teluk Intan Hospital 2001. He is also one of the main contributors to the postgraduate website profizham.org (2002-2003) along with a neurologist/endocrinologist and a nephrologist/infectious disease physician. This website is dedicated towards postgraduate teaching for doctors preparing for their MRCP/Masters of Medicine programme. He also worked voluntarily during the Hendra-like virus (encephalitis) outbreak in Seremban Hospital for one month (April-May 1999) where many patients were incapacitated by the illness, thus needing prolonged dedicated care.

He is a life member of the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) and has been registered with the National Specialist Registry (NSR) in Cardiology and Internal Medicine.

Dr. Chang adalah salah satu ahli jantung penduduk konsultan kami. Ia lulus dengan MD (USM) dari Universiti Sains Malaysia pada tahun 1997 dan kemudian berlalu MRCP nya (Edinburgh) pada tahun 2000. Ia menjabat sebagai seorang dokter umum di Ipoh rumah sakit dan rumah sakit Seri Manjung (2000-2001) sebelum bergabung dengan Institut Penyakit Jantung Negara (IJN) untuk pelatihan Kardiologi yang berlangsung selama hampir empat tahun. Dia memiliki pelatihan ekstensif di intervensi Kardiologi, gagal jantung transplantasi penilaian, echo TEE dan alat pacu jantung.Kepentingan khusus-nya meliputi:1. intervensi Kardiologi (transradial koroner stenting). Telah membuat intervensi berbasis Transradial prosedur invasif dengan awal pasien ambulation, lebih sedikit akses situs komplikasi dan awal discharge (tempat penitipan anak prosedur) ekokardiografi (terutama jaringan pencitraan doppler, TDI)2. jantung resynchronisation terapi (CRT) telah dianjurkan sebagai pilihan pada pasien gagal jantung dengan listrik dysynchrony meskipun obat-obatan yang optimal. TDI kuantitatif (TDI-Q) telah ditunjukkan untuk memandu pasien seleksi untuk CRT dan memprediksi tingkat respons (reverse renovasi) dengan wajar sensitivitas dan spesifisitas. Dr. Chang melekat pada sebentar Prof. Dr. C.M. Yu di Prince of Wales Hospital, Hong Kong, untuk lebih lanjut pelatihan di TDI pada tahun 2005.3. jantung Imaging (koroner 64 slice CT imaging/jantung MRI). Dia secara pribadi telah dilakukan ~ 250 kasus dengan beragam menarik kasus (posting CABG/stent/anomali arteri koroner dll.)Dia juga memiliki minat dalam terapi sel induk miokard (khusus mesenchymal stem sel) yang merupakan tambahan yang berguna pilihan/terapeutik pada gagal jantung tahap akhir dengan tidak ada pilihan untuk revaskularisasi.Dr. Chang juga memiliki minat dalam pekerjaan sukarela, CME dan Pascasarjana pengajaran. Dia adalah salah satu dari MOCK lokal penguji di tingkat negara bagian (Perak) diselenggarakan ujian langkah MRCP diadakan di Teluk Intan Hospital 2001. Ia juga merupakan salah satu kontributor utama pascasarjana website profizham.org (2002-2003) bersama dengan ahli saraf/endokrinologi dan dokter penyakit nephrologist menular. Website ini didedikasikan menuju pascasarjana pengajaran untuk mempersiapkan mereka MRCP/master program obat dokter. Ia juga bekerja secara sukarela selama wabah virus (encephalitis) Hendra-seperti di Seremban rumah sakit selama satu bulan (April-Mei 1999) dimana banyak pasien yang jatuh sakit, dengan demikian perlu perawatan khusus yang berkepanjangan.Dia adalah anggota seumur hidup dari asosiasi medis Malaysia (MMA) dan telah terdaftar dengan Registry spesialis nasional (NSR) di bidang Kardiologi dan Internal Medicine.
