Dahulu kala di tengah-tengah hutan yang sangat lebat di atas bukit terdapat sebuah desa yang di huni oleh beraneka ragam macam serangga. Mereka hidup tentram, rukun dan damai. Ada keluarga Kupu-kupu yang tinggal di atas pepohonan, Pak Kumbang dan keluarganya yang tinggal didalam sarang yang tergantung di dahan pohon besar. Kakek Cacing yang selalu membuat rumah di lubang tanah. Sekelompok Semut hitam dan Semut merah yang sarangnya saling berdekatan, Bapak Laba-laba yang mempunyai rumah jaring Laba-laba besar, serta Ibu Kecoa yang menempati sepatu bot bekas milik manusia untuk di jadikan sebagai rumahnya.

Hampir setiap malam mereka berkumpul bersama, berpesta, menari, dan bergembira serta saling berbagi makanan kecuali seekor belalang yang selalu saja hidup menyendiri. Ia hanya memandang keramaian dari depan rumahnya saja. Tingkah Belalang itu sangat aneh, ia malu karena ia telah kehilangan sebuah kakinya. Kakek Cacing pernah bercerita, Paman Belalang setahun yang lalu telah kehilangan kakinya akibat ia berkelahi dengan seekor burung yang hendak memangsanya. Sehari-hari Paman Belalang hanya duduk termenung meratapi kakinya yang hilang, atau ia pergi entah kemana. Paman Belalang merasa sudah tidak berguna lagi karena telah kehilangan kakinya yang sangat berharga.

Lodi si anak Semut Merah dan Roro si anak Semut Hitam sangat prihatin melihat hidup Paman Belalang sekarang. Suatu hari ketika Lodi dan Roro sedang berjalan-jalan di tepi sungai, tiba-tiba mereka melihat Paman Belalang sedang asyik membuat sebuah perahu kecil yang terbuat dari ranting pohon dan dedaunan kering.

“Wahhhh… perahu buatan paman bagus sekali Puji Roro”.
Paman Belalang tersenyum, lalu tiba-tiba ia mengajak Lodi dan Roro naik kedalam perahu miliknya. Lodi dan Roro saling bertatapan, mereka tidak menyangka ternyata Paman Belalang sangat baik dan ramah, Lody dan Roro pun bersedia ikut dengan Paman Belalang, mereka bertiga pun menjadi akrab. Paman Belalang mengeluarkan sebuah gitar tua lalu ia mulai bernyanyi sedangkan Lodi dan Roro menari-nari mengikuti irama gitar milik Paman Belalang.

Perahu daun Paman Belalang berlayar di sepanjang aliran sungai, pemandangan di sekitarnya sangat indah. Ketika perahu itu melawati sungai yang di tepinya di penuhi oleh tanaman bunga, tiba-tiba Paman Belalang menghentikan laju perahunya. Lalu ia menunjukan jarinya kearah dua ekor kodok yang sedang bercakap-cakap.
“Kedua kodok itu sepertinya sedang merencanakan sesuatu yang tidak baik bisik Paman”.
“Dari mana Paman bisa mengetahuinya? Tanya Lodi”.
“Kemarin Paman mendengar cerita dari seekor Lalat, katanya kita harus berhati-hati jika melihat dua ekor kodok hitam yang besar, Seminggu yang lalu kedua ekor Kodok hitam itu telah menghancurkan desa serangga yang berada di sebelah timur, mereka memangsa anak-anak semut dan telur-telur serangga jelas Paman”.
“Yaa ampun, jahat sekali kodok-kodok itu bisik Roro ketakutan”.

Paman Belalang, Lodi dan Roro diam-diam mendengarkan percakapan kedua kodok itu dari dalam perahu mereka yang bersembunyi dibalik bunga teratai. Benar saja, ternyata kedua Kodok itu mempunyai rencana jahat nanti malam. Mereka tahu jika hampir setiap malam di desa serangga selalu mengadakan pesta. Kodok itu pun berencana akan merusak pesta dan memangsa anak-anak serangga yang berada di sana. Mendengar hal itu Paman Belalang cepet-cepat memutar balik arah perahu miliknya, lantas mereka bertiga kembali ke desa.
“Ayo kita pulang dan memberitahukan rencana mereka pada para serangga yang lainnya jelas Paman”.
Perahu yang Paman kemudikan itu berlayar sangat cepat menuju desa. Setiba disana Paman Belalang segera menceritakan rencana jahat sang Kodok yang mereka dengar tadi.

“Benarkah… Cerita itu, Tanya Kakek Cacing yang dituakan oleh para serangga di desa mereka”.
“Benar Kakek, kami berdua pun juga mendengar percakapan Kodok jahat itu jelas Lodi dan Roro”.
Paman Belalang kemudian memerintahkan jika malam ini tidak di adakan pesta dulu. Anak-anak dan telur mereka harus di jaga baik-baik di dalam sarang oleh induknya. Sedangkan para penjantan dewasa siap berjaga-jaga dan menyerang jika kedua kodok itu datang. Dan ternyata benar, ketika malam hari tiba, kedua ekor Kodok Hitam itu muncul di desa. Upsss… ternyata Kodok itu pun bingung karena desa serangga yang hampir setiap malam mengadakan pesta, tiba-tiba saja menjadi sunyi senyap.

SEERANGGGGGG… Teriak Paman Belalang, dengan cepat Bapak Laba-laba menjatuhkan jaring besarnya tepat di atas Kodok itu. Kedua Kodok itu terperangkap oleh jaring Laba-laba, mereka pun tidak dapat bergerak. Para penjantan Semut Merah dan Semut Hitam lalu mengelilingi serta menggigiti kedua nya. Kodok-kodok itu teriak kesakitan, lalu akhirnya mereka menyerah dan meminta maaf kepada para serangga. Kakek Cacing memerintahkan Bapak Laba-laba untuk membuka jaring-jaringnya lalu ia menyuruh kedua Kodok itu pergi dari desa serangga.

HOORREEEE… Teriak para serangga ketika melihat Kodok-kodok itu pergi, sambil menari-nari mereka mengangkat tubuh Paman Belalang dan melempar-lemparnya ke udara. Kakek Cacing mengucapkan terima kasih kepada Paman Belalang yang sudah menyelamatkan desa milik mereka. Semenjak itu Paman Belalang tidak menjadi pemurung lagi, ia sadar jika dirinya masih berguna walaupun telah kehilangan kakinya. Setiap malam ia pun bergabung dengan para serangga lainya untuk berpesta, Paman belalang selalu bermain gitar dan bernyanyi riang. Para serangga pun sangat menyukainya, begitu juga dengan Lodi dan Roro yang sekarang menjadi sahabat Paman dan mereka selalu ikut serta berpetualang dengan Paman Belalang dan perahunya.
