1.1 Study characteristics for SRNS

Seven studies were identified for the analysis of the association between ACE I/D gene polymorphism and SRNS susceptibility. However, two investigations [6],[25] were performed in Caucasians and Africans respectively, which were excluded from our meta-analysis. Finally, five studies [4], [8], [26], [27], [28] were recruited into our investigation for the relationship between ACE I/D gene polymorphism and SRNS susceptibility (Table 1). Interestingly, all the recruited investigations were performed in children and those studies were published in English. The data of our interest were extracted: first author's surname, year of publication and the number of cases and controls for ACE genotype (Table 1). Those five investigations contained 126 case series and 604 controls. The average distribution frequency of ACE D allele in patients with SRNS was 64.40% and the average frequency in controls was 48.23%. The average distribution frequency of D allele in cases was a little increase when compared with that in control group (SRNS/control = 1.34).

Rata-rata distribusi Frekuensi alel D dalam kasus adalah peningkatan kecil bila dibandingkan dengan yang dalam kelompok kontrol (SRNS/kontrol = 1,34).
