In this research, the researcher uses direct writing test to measure the
student‘s ability of English writing. Test was given in pretest and each cycle. The
gathered data of the test was in form of number. After the data of test were gained,
the researcher would compare the students score to the criteria of success which
determined whether the research was successful or not. In addition, the student’s
score of writing recount text was classified into five types which were the content,
organization, vocabulary, grammar and mechanics that provided by Cohen
(1994:328-329). Then criteria of scoring were as follows:

Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan tes menulis langsung untuk mengukur
kemampuan siswa menulis bahasa Inggris. Uji diberikan pretest dan setiap siklus. The
data yang dikumpulkan dari tes itu berupa nomor. Setelah data uji yang diperoleh,
peneliti akan membandingkan siswa skor dengan kriteria keberhasilan yang
ditentukan apakah penelitian itu berhasil atau tidak. Selain itu, siswa

organisasi, kosakata, tata bahasa dan mekanik yang disediakan oleh Cohen

Kemudian kriteria skor adalah sebagai berikut: Content ide utama dinyatakan dengan jelas dan akurat, perubahan pendapat yang sangat jelas 5 ide Utama menyatakan cukup jelas dan akurat, perubahan opini relatif jelas 4 ide utama agak tidak jelas dan tidak akurat, perubahan opini agak lemah. 3 gagasan utama tidak jelas atau akurat, perubahan pendapat yang lemah. 2 ide utama tidak semua jelas atau akurat, perubahan opinionOrganization Terorganisasi dan konten sempurna 5 terorganisir Cukup baik dan umumnya koheren 4 Longgar terorganisir, tapi ide utama yang jelas, logis tapi tidak lengkap sequencing 3 Situs terputus, tidak memiliki logika sequencing 2 Tidak ada organisasi, tidak koheren 1
