Analytical Evaluation of Ingredients
and Feeds

Samples of cereals and feeds were ground in a laboratory
mill (Model Z-I, Retsch, Stuttgart, Germany),
provided with a 1-mm screen, and analyzed in triplicate
for DM by the oven-drying method (930.15), total ash
by a muffle furnace (942.05), and nitrogen by combustion
(990.03) using LECO equipment (model FP-528,
LECO Corporation, St. Joseph, MI) and ether extract
by Soxhlet fat analysis after 3 N HCl acid hydrolysis
(920.39) as described by AOAC International (2000).
For the determination of the GMD of cereals and diets,
3 subsamples of 100 g were sieved using a Retsch shaker
(Retsch) provided with 8 sieves ranging in mesh from
5,000 to 40 µm. The method outlined by ASAE (1995)
was used. The nutrient content, particle size distribution,
and GMD of the cereals tested are presented in
Table 2, and the composition of the experimental diets
is shown in Table 3.

dan Feed Sampel sereal dan feed adalah tanah di laboratorium pabrik (Model ZI, Retsch, Stuttgart, Jerman), dilengkapi dengan layar 1-mm, dan dianalisis dalam rangkap tiga untuk DM dengan metode oven pengeringan (930,15 ), abu total oleh tungku meredam (942,05), dan nitrogen oleh pembakaran (990,03) menggunakan peralatan LECO (Model FP-528, LECO Corporation, St. Joseph, MI) dan ekstrak eter dengan analisis lemak Soxhlet setelah asam 3 N HCl hidrolisis (920,39) seperti yang dijelaskan oleh AOAC International (2000). Untuk penentuan GMD sereal dan diet, 3 Subsamples dari 100 g diayak menggunakan shaker Retsch (Retsch) tersedia dengan 8 saringan mulai mesh dari 5.000 sampai 40 um. Metode yang digariskan oleh ASAE (1995) digunakan. Kandungan gizi, distribusi ukuran partikel, dan GMD dari sereal diuji disajikan pada Tabel 2, dan komposisi diet eksperimental ditunjukkan pada Tabel 3.
