I find this critique, advanced widely in the academy and<br>among the clergy, to be myopic, even though it is born of a real and<br>legitimate concern for the dignity of human life and the enhancement<br>of a culture that protects the human person in all his complexity.<br>It is myopic to the extent that it fails to make some<br>important and crucial distinctions I will discuss in due course, and<br>thus relinquishes what could be a powerful tool in the construction<br>of a civilisation centred on the immortal destiny and the<br>unique potential of every single person.
