PANCOAST MALACHI S.On August 6, 2010, age 80, of Glenshaw, PA, formerly of Springfield, PA. He died peacefully at home surrounded in prayer and song and was encircled in death as he was in life by his loving wife, children, grandchildren and great-grand- children. He was a devoted husband of 54 years to Joan (Dubois) Pancoast. Adoring father of Malachi (Jill) Pancoast (Ponte Vedra, Florida), Michael (Emily) Pancoast (Huntington, PA), Ann (Scott) Sennott (Ross), Jeannette (Michael) White (Renfrew), and Mary (John) Folmer (Gibsonia). Beloved grandfather of Lana, Elisabeth, Hannah, Malachi, Andrew (Keren), Kay (Joshua), Daniel, Ashley, Josiah, Laura, John, Matthew, Nicholas, Patrick, Emma, Christopher, Alex, Jacob, Katie, Olivia, John, Joseph, Joshua and Isabella. Great-grandfather of Maddison & Kaylee. Brother of Bill (Mary Joan) Pancoast. Preceded in death by his parents William and Ann Pancoast and nephew Andy Pancoast. He is survived by many loving relatives in Philadelphia and Canada. Mr. Pancoast graduated from Penn State University where he belonged to the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and sang for both the Penn State Chapel Choir and the Mendelssohn Choir. After college he taught advanced sciences at Springfield High School. Subsequent to teaching, he owned and operated Pancoast Personnel for more than 30 years. Mr. Pancoast volunteered for Contact Pittsburgh for 35 years, the Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce, was an officer in the Shaler Rotary Club and was very active in both St. Bonaventure and St. Sebastian parishes. Mr. Pancoast was known for his jovial nature and that he never forgot a birthday with a card or a phone call - even former students and friends that he knew from childhood - it is estimated that Mr. Pancoast gave birthday greetings to almost 1000 people per year. His greatest gift was to show his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren how to live a life filled with faith in the Lord, love of others, optimism no matter what the obstacle, perseverance, dedication and steadfast love of his family and friends. Mr. Pancoast never allowed anyone to be a stranger - making all feel like a friend. He will be forever missed. Friends and relatives will be received Sunday and Monday 2-4 and 6-8 at SPERLING FUNERAL HOME, 700 Blazier Drive, McCandless, 724-933-9200. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Sebastian Church, Tuesday, 10AM. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Seraphic Mass Association 3600 Butler Street Pittsburgh, PA 15201 or to the Camryn Surman Family Fund at any PNC Bank location.
