On the other hand, if the interpretative author is understood as someone who produces an interpretation of a text to facilitate the understanding of the text by anaudience, then again not all texts need to have or actually have interpretative authors. Many texts are semantically transparent and need no interpretation in order to beunderstood by an audience. Audiences contemporaneous with the historical author and the text he produced often need no interpretation produced by someone elseto understand the text. Only when the text is extraordinarily complex or the audience is contextually separated from the text are interpretations needed. Of course, ifthe audience of a text is composed of persons not familiar with the language used in the text, an interpretation in the form of a translation is necessary even in cases when the text in question is simple and clear.
