Coming to Terms with Reality

The first stage that students must go through is that of 'coming to terms with reality'. It is very important that students be made aware of what their actual level of writing is at present. It is also crucial that at this stage teachers must not tell students what they believe their level to be but must provide the right feedback to enable students to see for themselves. Students who do not write well should not be fooled into believing that they do. At this stage, commenting only on the positive aspects of a student paper will only create a false sense of confidence in the student. Comments on how to improve poor areas in writing both on paper and in person can help students understand just what their writing is in need of. Once this stage has been satisfactorily completed then the teacher must move on to reassure students that it will be possible to improve their writing.

Datang Syarat dengan Realitas Tahap pertama bahwa siswa harus melalui adalah bahwa dari 'datang untuk berdamai dengan kenyataan'. Hal ini sangat penting bahwa siswa harus dibuat sadar apa tingkat yang sebenarnya mereka menulis pada saat ini. Hal ini juga penting bahwa pada tahap ini guru tidak harus memberitahu siswa apa yang mereka percaya tingkat mereka untuk menjadi tetapi harus memberikan umpan balik yang tepat untuk memungkinkan siswa untuk melihat sendiri. Siswa yang tidak menulis dengan baik seharusnya tidak tertipu menjadi percaya bahwa mereka lakukan. Pada tahap ini, komentar hanya pada aspek-aspek positif dari kertas mahasiswa hanya akan menciptakan rasa palsu kepercayaan siswa. Komentar tentang bagaimana meningkatkan daerah miskin secara tertulis baik di atas kertas dan secara pribadi dapat membantu siswa memahami apa tulisan mereka sangat membutuhkan. Setelah tahap ini telah memuaskan selesai maka guru harus pindah untuk meyakinkan siswa bahwa hal itu akan mungkin untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis mereka.
