Over the last 20 years, the development of geographic information systems (GIS) has stimulated the use of predictive models in archaeology (Kvamme 1995). These models are useful in identifying regions with a high archaeological site potential. Such information is particularly useful for cultural resource management studies and the preservation/avoidance of regions likely to contain archaeological resources (Brooks et al. 1996). In general, the ability of GIS to efficiently manipulate and analyze large amounts of spatial and tabular data makes it a particularly useful tool for the construction of multivariate predictive models (Kvamme 1999) (Mehrer, Mark W.& Konnie L.Wescott.,2006 hal: 313)
