The purpose of this case study is to examine and analyze the current Best Buy service process and recommend improvements to improve its service system. The motivation
for this study stems from a desire to see customer service improved to a level that
customers would enjoy an overall superior shopping experience any time they shop at
Best Buy. We have had service experiences at Best Buy stores that were not what one would expect from a leading retailer of consumer electronics and appliances in the US. We would like to recommend a process that would provide better service to customers. The following business issues will specifically be addressed as part of this study:
(1) Is there a better way that Best Buy could be serving its customers to gain market share?
(2) What service attributes Best Buy should acquire to become an effective retailer? (3) What service strategies are appropriate for Best Buy?
(4) What strategies can Best Buy mimic from its competitors to improve its service system?
