In analyzing the Tasks Totals, several trends emerged. SAT verbal scores had moderate relationships with all of the Task Totals (r = .31 to .40), except for Task 20-Women’s Lives (r = .11). The SAT math scores were also moderately related to Task 15-Cubism (r = .27) and Task 22-Lemon Sharks (r = .39), yet exhibited no relationship or a slight inverse relationship with the other three Tasks (r = .02 to – .21).

Overall Task Total correlations, at most, suggested moderate relationships between Task performance and SAT performance, with SAT verbal scores exhibiting stronger relationships with the Tasks than the SAT Math scores.

Across the five Tasks, the majority of Skill Totals had low or no relationship with the SAT scores. Analysis Skills tended to be more strongly related to SAT scores (r = .21 and .33), compared with Inquiry (r = .15 and .25) and Communication (r = .04 and .15), with the higher correlation coefficient representing verbal score and Skill comparison. SAT verbal performance, as compared to math performance, was therefore found to be more closely related to Skill Totals. The only Task that exhibited a consistently different pattern of relationships with SAT scores was Task 20-Women’s Lives (r = –.21 to .17) and these correlations tended to be smaller than the other Tasks.
