This section of the text does not show a mandrel wrap or modal conditioner on the transmit jumper in the illustrations. This section focuses on how to perform each test method. The test methods are performed exactly the same regardless of whether a mode filter or modal controller is required.

The three test methods described in this section each measure the optical loss of the cable plant at different points, as shown in figure 33.30. The two-test jumper method, or method A, measures the loss of the cable plant plus one connection loss. The one-test jumper method, or method B, measures the loss of the cable plant plus two connection losses. The three-test jumper method, or method C, measures the loss of the cable plant only. Only the one-test jumper method can be used when testing to ANSI/TIA-568-C.0.
