We conclude that GMD of the cereal portion of the
diet, ranging from 774 to 1,165 µm for corn and from
998 to 1,250 µm for durum wheat, did not affect productive
performance or egg quality of young brown egglaying
hens, except for ADFI that increased with the
greater GMD. Both cereals can be used at concentrations
of up to 50% in diets for laying hens when ground
to pass through a 6- to 10-mm screen.
