It is the first Jaguar Land Rover-built unit to feature series sequential turbo technology. Elsewhere in the range, JLR’s new 3.0 litre V6 supercharged petrol engine features lightweight all-aluminium construction, direct-injection and variable intake, and exhaust valve timing. Advanced Tow Assist is a first-in-class feature utilising the existing camera system and central touchscreen, allowing the driver to indicate the desired direction of their trailer using the Terrain Response 2 rotary controller. The vehicle will then auto steer accordingly.

All-terrain capability is a Range Rover USP, and the new Sport includes the new Low Traction Launch, while the updated 4x4i menu presents all the necessary vehicle info when tackling challenging terrain. The 2017 RR Sport also comes with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB).

The enlarged dual-view touchscreen features a new 10-inch display (two inches wider than before, no more hard keys) with tablet-style pinch and zoom orientation. This is powered by Land Rover’s InControl Touch Pro tech. The new Pro Services system allows customers to download apps and install them directly to the vehicle’s system, rather than being used through their smartphone. InControl Remote Premium allows drivers to control a number of vehicle functions remotely via a smartphone app.

No changes to the big SUV’s appearance, but there’s a new Bright Pack as an option on Autobiography Dynamic models. It brings a more vivid finish, with features such as Atlas Silver front grille mesh and bonnet mesh. There’s also an extended palette of colour options and finishes, with 19 new colours from JLR’s Special Vehicle Operations division.
