The Implementation of the Reciprocal Style
Although the Command and Practice styles are familiar to everyone in one
form or another, the Reciprocal style is new to many. The new reality and
roles create new social and psychological demands on both the teacher and
the learners; considerable adjustments and changes of behavior must be
made. This is the first time in the teaching–learning process that the teacher
deliberately shifts the decision of feedback to the learner. The implicit
power of feedback that has always belonged to the teacher is now shifted
to the learner. The learners, therefore, must learn to use this power responsibly
when they give and receive feedback with peers. Both teacher and
learners need to experience this new reality with trust and comfort; all
must understand the value of this behavior in the growth of the individual
learners. Just as the teacher had to refrain in the Practice style from making
the decisions of the Command behavior, so the teacher in the Reciprocal
style must refrain from offering performance feedback to the doers.

Meskipun Command dan Praktek gaya yang akrab bagi semua orang dalam satu
bentuk atau lain, gaya Reciprocal baru bagi banyak. Realitas baru dan
peran membuat tuntutan sosial dan psikologis baru pada kedua guru dan
peserta didik; penyesuaian yang cukup besar dan perubahan perilaku harus
dilakukan. Ini adalah pertama kalinya dalam proses belajar-mengajar yang guru
sengaja menggeser keputusan umpan balik untuk pelajar. Implisit
kekuatan umpan balik yang selalu milik guru sekarang bergeser
ke pelajar. Peserta didik, oleh karena itu, harus belajar untuk menggunakan kekuatan ini secara bertanggung jawab
ketika mereka memberi dan menerima umpan balik dengan rekan-rekan. Kedua guru dan
peserta didik perlu mengalami realitas baru ini dengan kepercayaan dan kenyamanan; semua
harus memahami nilai perilaku ini dalam pertumbuhan individu
peserta didik. Sama seperti guru harus menahan diri dalam gaya Praktek dari membuat
keputusan perilaku Command, sehingga guru dalam Reciprocal
gaya harus menahan diri dari menawarkan umpan balik kinerja untuk para pelaku.
