Signs and indications

For our next session deep in the bowels og orwell's ministry of love, i wan to discuss with you another discourse of communication that does not make referrnce to the individual mind : the philosophy of czech philosopher edmund husserl (1859-1938) as described in the logical investigations (Husserl, 1900/1970). In this work, husserl was not concerned with language and meaning for their own sake. His major objective was to develop and articulate a refutation of psychologism, the view that the laws of logic are descriptions of regularities in the way we think, in many important respects, Husserl's refutation of psychologism complements out objective here; to challrnge the view that communication id a reflection of our individual thoughts and mental states. In hid refutation of psychologism, Husserl developed a way of speaking about communication that does not rely on thr premise that meaning is dependent upon ideas in the mind or that communication has anything to do with the transmission of ideas from onr place to another. Introducing Husserl's account is intended to give us more linguistice resources with which to imagine a communication theory that makes no reference to thr individual mind.

Dalam karya ini, Husserl tidak peduli dengan bahasa dan makna untuk kepentingan mereka sendiri. Tujuan utama adalah untuk mengembangkan dan mengartikulasikan sanggahan dari psychologism, pandangan bahwa hukum logika adalah deskripsi dari keteraturan dalam cara kita berpikir, dalam banyak hal penting, sanggahan Husserl dari psychologism melengkapi keluar tujuan di sini; untuk challrnge pandangan bahwa id komunikasi refleksi dari pengalaman pribadi kita dan keadaan mental.
