Role Synopsis The Planner is responsible for production planning and scheduling as well as procurement and scheduling of raw materials and supplies needed for a Manufacturing location. This position will ensure a safe achievable production schedule and seamless availability of materials capable of meeting demands for finished product and achieving goals of In Full On Time shipment of customer orders.Key accountabilities Responsible for managing and maintaining optimum inventories of over 600 different non-bulk raw materials to meet scheduled production demands.Run MRP Order, Defer, Expedite, reports daily to maintain proper raw material inventory levels.Maintain relationships and accurate contact information with hundreds of suppliers coordinating anywhere from 200 – 300 shipments per month with a wide range of shipping lead time requirements. Includes receiving, confirming, and filing of all purchase order acknowledgements.Support Industrial and Auto planning and purchasing of raw materials for multiple blending work centers.Review, forward, and action price discrepancies at time of order entry with central purchasing so that JDE VQF can be updated, order amended, placed and acknowledged by the supplier.Work with AP department personnel on invoice discrepancies when required to ensure proper match and allow for timely payment to suppliers. Daily interface with production to ensure raw materials are received and production schedule is achievable. Review & correction of negative inventory and monitoring of RM in QC status.Back up for Planning Manager.Essential Education A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree.Essential experience and job requirements Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing planning or purchasing planning experience.Extensive knowledge of inventory control, materials management, and material procurement is needed for balancing problems created in meeting production demands.Well developed organizational and analytical skills coupled with the ability to look ahead are needed to determine solutions to daily problems.Proficient MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project).Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to adapt / modify plans in response to changing circumstances.Familiarity with JD Edwards (PeopleSoft) or SAP.Eligibility Requirements Must be at least 18 years of age; legally authorized to work in the US; and not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., TN, H1B status), now or in the near future.Other Requirements (e.g. Travel, Location) Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time in order to fulfill responsibilities of this role.Desirable criteria & qualifications Extensive knowledge of purchasing, demand management / forecasting, MRP system functionality as well as knowledge of the production.APICS / CPIM certification.Bachelor's Degree or certification in Inventory Control, Purchasing.
