The FAO Representation in Indonesia supports the Indonesian Government achieve national goals on 1) the eradication of hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition; 2) the elimination of poverty and the driving forward of economic and social progress for all; and 3) the sustainable management and utilization of natural resources, including land, water, air, climate and genetic resources for the benefit of present and future generations. Recent FAO assistance in Indonesia is shaped by the Indonesia FAO Country Programming Framework 20162020 which identifies the following four priority areas: 1) Increased resilience of livelihoods to the effects of climate change, recurrent natural disasters and emerging pandemic threats, 2) Sustainable intensification of crop production and improved management of forest and fisheries resources, 3) Reduction of rural poverty, more inclusive food systems, and value chain development, 4) Improvement of the policy environment and strengthened partnerships in agriculture, fisheries and forestry for food and nutrition security. FAO works closely with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MOEF), Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) and the Peatland Restoration Agency (BRG) to support sustainable forest and peatland management in Indonesia. The consultant will work as part of the Programme Team of FAO Representation in Indonesia under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative. The consultant will take on FAO Indonesia’s liaison activities with key high-level Government officials and organize high-level visits and meetings to support FAO Indonesia’s forestry programme.
