Adham then left the cabin to carry

Adham then left the cabin to carry out the final work, as Jalal sat in his cabin and smirked to himself. His plan had been successfully put in motion! He had purposely chosen such a time to carry out the eviction as he wanted Jodha to come after college and witness her family's sad and terrified faces. Only then would she know what real pain is; the same pain he had felt when she had slapped him in front of everyone!

Jalal (with an evil laugh) - Look at you, Jodha Singh, trying to be all feisty and blunt that day! I want to see if that remains so after you see your family and your belongings on the street! I hope you shed tears of blood today! Because only then will I be happy!

Jodha meanwhile had already left for college with Surya. She had forgotten about the incident with Jalal; it was as if it had never happened! She met Surya at the bus stop and they happily went together to college. She had a wide and pretty smile on her face; she absolutely had no clue that someone wanted to wipe that smile off her face forever. She attended her classes for the day; having no idea what was going to happen to her house. The evictors arrived at 11 pm and knocked on their door. No one was at home except for Jodha's mother and her chachi. They showed them the court eviction notice as they forcibly entered the house and began throwing out all the items one by one. Mainavati and Padma tried to explain that it was their ancestral property yet they paid no heed to their pleadings. They watched in horror as the evictors threw all the items from the kitchen, the cupboards, clothes, showcases, utensils, books and every other valuable thing around the house. Sensing the commotion, the neighbours came out of their homes to witness what was happening. They couldn't help but only watch as the bulky men threw their things out on the lawn. Mainavati and Padma were so scared that they couldn't contact anyone. Finally, after emptying out the house completely, the evictors asked them to hand over the keys, to which they obliged without any questions. They then left, throwing a copy of the eviction notice on them. Mainavati picked up and read it. She burst out into tears as she saw the remnants of what earlier made up their house. Padma quickly took the notice from her hand and it read it. Everything was over for them. They had lost the only roof above their head. She too began shedding tears; they both were alone at that point of time and were too grief-stricken to even think about calling up and informing their respective husbands. They sat on the footpath outside their old home, helpless and without any phones. The neighbours only looked at them with pity but none went forward to help them. The curious on-lookers soon began dispersing, as the hapless women hoped that somebody would at least inform the men of the house.

Jodha and Surya got off at the bus stop. It was about 2.30 pm. She was really happy as her day had gone really well. Surya had given her a cute heart pendant as a gift for their anniversary. Jodha was wearing it in her neck. They began walking towards her house, hand-in-hand. As they walked, they continued to give glances at each other. Jodha had a smile on her face. However, she was not the least aware as to what hell had broken loose into her life; how it would take away the very sweet smile she had then.

Surya - I hope you liked the gift, Jodha

Jodha - Like? I loved it! Thank you so much, Surya!

Jodha then bent forward and kissed him on the cheek. Surya's face lit up with happiness.

Jodha (touching the pendant) - I will cherish and keep it forever, even after we get married!

Surya (in a teasing manner) - Oh ho, toh abhi se shaadi ki planning ho rahi hai aapki!

Jodha (embarrassed) - Surya! Tum bhi na!

She then gave him a playful punch in the face as they walked towards her house. They finally reached, only to be greeted with a shocking site. All the household items were strewn on the lawn, which she could see through the fencing. The flower pots in garden had been smashed and the lights broken. As she walked further ahead, she saw her father, her chacha, her mother and her chachi standing on the footpath with their heads held down in despair. Bharmal and her chacha received calls from their neighbours, informing them about the misfortune. They had then immediately left their respective work places and arrived there, only to see their wives weeping bitterly. Jodha quickly rushed to her family's side, as Surya followed behind her.

Jodha - Papa, what happened? Why our all our belongings in such a mess? And why is everyone waiting outside? Was our house burgled?

On hearing Jodha's questions, Mainvati burst into a fresh bout of tears. Jodha got extremely worried.

Jodha - Papa, what has happened? Why isn't anyone telling me anything here?

Bharmal then took out the eviction notice from his pocket and handed it to her. Jodha took it from his hand and began reading. As she went on, she froze. She couldn't believe that this was happening to them. Her body went numb, as the sheet slipped out of her hands. She had a look of despair and shock on her face. She looked up at her father, who was on the verge of tears.

Bharmal - Beta, our house wasn't burgled. It is gone; we have no roof over our heads anymore

Jodha (shouting) - But Papa! Who did this? Who usurped our house?

Bharmal - Mr Jalaluddin Mohammed

************TWO WEEKS LATER************

Bharmal was very worried. Two weeks had gone by and they were living in their friend's house, who had agreed to let them stay temporarily, till they managed to get another accommodation. Jodha's cousins and their family were staying elsewhere. He still couldn't believe that someone had taken away his ancestral property right under his nose. He couldn't even buy back the house from Jalal, as they property was worth a few crores and he didn't have that much money. His family had suffered greatly due to these unforeseen circumstances. Jodha hadn't imagined in her wildest dreams that Jalal would do this to her and her family. Her hatred for him had increased even more. He could have sworn revenge on her, but why her entire family? She had slapped him, not them. Then why was he making them suffer? All this was highly unacceptable to Jodha. She couldn't see her family in pain anymore. She wanted to file a police complaint against him but it was fruitless as she had no proof against him. He had very cunningly and cleverly taken advantage of the loopholes for his benefit. She loved her family way too much and was ready to do anything to get the smile back on their face. She began thinking of all the possible ways to get back her house. However, she had promised herself that she wouldn't meet Jalal for it at any cost. Her father had come to know about her altercation with Jalal as well. He now knew why had he done this but was proud of his daughter for whatever she did. However, Bharmal knew that the matter was very serious; it would be next to impossible for him to get the property back unless he spoke to Jalal personally. He was very influential and Bharmal knew that no law enforcement agency could help him out. So, without his family's knowledge, he had taken appointment to meet Jalal that day in his office so he could at least make an attempt to get his house back.

Jalal on the other hand, was happy that his plan had been successful. Two weeks ago, the keys had landed on his desk on time. He had lauded Adham for his outstanding performance and had given him a bonus as well. He had extracted his revenge from Jodha and she wouldn't dare to mess with him again. He had safely stacked away the papers and keys of the property in his safe. Adham came in and greeted him.

Jalal - Good morning, Adham. Do I have any meetings today?

Adham - Sir, no meetings but there is an appointment by certain Bharmal Singh for 11 am. He wanted to meet you with regards to some urgent work

Jalal smirked on hearing this. He very well knew that Bharmal must be wanting to talk to him with regards to the property and must have taken an appointment.

Jalal - Okay, send him in when he comes

Adham - Okay Sir

Bharmal stepped into Jalal's office where he was greeted by the receptionist. Bharmal mentioned to her that he had an appointment with Jalal. She then checked the log book and told him to go straight to his cabin, Bharmal walked towards it, and Adham signalled him to go in after asking him his name. Bharmal knocked on the door and Jalal told him to enter. He swiftly opened the door and walked towards him. Jalal smirked as he greeted him and told him to take a seat.

Jalal - So Mr Bharmal, what brings you here today?

Bharmal - Umm..Sir I am here to talk about Singh House, the property which you have just recently acquired

Jalal - Haan so tell me, what about it?

Bharmal - Well, Sir you see that is my ancestral property. It has been passed down my family for generations. And we have been staying there since a long time. I have spent my childhood there as well

Jalal - Okay. So what?

Bharmal - Sir, it is my sincere request to you. Please return my house back to us. Even though it is a big property, we are not as affluent as you. I cannot afford to buy another house. We are living under a borrowed roof for now but will have to search for a new accommodation soon. So please, (joining his hands) - Please return the house. We will be on the streets otherwise

Jalal - What makes you think I will return the property back to you?

Bharmal - Sir I have heard that you have a very big heart. You help people in need

Jalal - I cannot help you, however! You see your house' had no valid papers! I wanted to purchase it and I did! I simply when to the Municipal Office and got the papers made on my name! I got that eviction order passed as well! It legally belongs to me now! After doing so much, you still think I will return it to you? You are sorely mistaken, Mr Bharmal
